[2.3」になると、更にいろいろ改善される。その中でも話題になるのが、「NFC（Near Field Communication）」に対応することだ。
NFCとは、ソニーとNXPセミコンダクター社共同開発した近距離無線通信の規格であり、ISO（国際標準機関）に承認されている。ICカードやICタグで馴染みのRFID技術の次の標準規格として期待は大きい。
「FeliCa」や「Mifare」とも通信ができ、利用範囲は幅広いと思われる。ご存じの通り、「FeliCa」はソニーの登録商標で、「Mifare」はNXPセミコンダクターの登録商標である。
近距離というのは無線距離は最大１０ｃｍとされており、13.56MHz帯のICカード全てに対応している。
