年明け第２週、久しぶりの沖縄出張

１月１２日～１４日、沖縄出張が入った。日本列島は寒波に覆われ非常に寒い、沖縄でもここ数年に無い寒さだった。

私は、この時期の沖縄出張はいつも羽田空港にコートもマフラーも置いて沖縄へ飛ぶ。今回も同様だった。しかし、沖縄でもコートもマフラーも必要なほどの寒さだった。

結局、東京より沖縄のほうが寒いと感じるほどで、帰京後、体調を崩す始末だった。

沖縄でもクラウドコンピューティング

今回の出張の目的は、クラウドコンピューティングの講師依頼があり、沖縄のIT企業の経営者の方々１０数名の２日間の研修会であった。

沖縄でも行政や各団体、自治体など、あちらこちらでクラウドコンピューティングが騒がれている。そこで今回依頼を受けた訳だが、私はこの２年間アメリカで調査してきた内容を中心に『SaaS～クラウドコンピューティングの進化およびビジネス展開』について講師した。

参加者の経営者の方々は、自分たちの素直な気持ちや現状を意見したり、非常に熱心な研修会であった。

会場は、沖縄市の「あやかりの杜」場所が岡の上にあり、窓の外は景色が良い、目の前は、米軍のベースキャンプ。

私のクラウド化に対する主張

SaaS～クラウドコンピューティングのあり方、実現方法、ビジネス方法に関しては、私もこの２年、３年、いろいろと視察＆検討しながら、考え方が進化している。

中小企業がクラウドをやるには、最初の開発投資費用がかなり必要だ。クラウドの場合、運営にも費用がかかり、売上も１発で高額な金額を稼げることはない、投資資金の回収にも時間がかかる。だからしっかりと勉強すべきだ。

それとタイミング！　新しいビジネスモデルであるため、市場が動かないうちに手をだすと売上がでるまでに時間がかかる。その期間、耐えるだけの資金も必要だ。

中小企業であれば、2010年の後半から2011年前半のサービス開始が望ましいのではないかと思う。

「それじゃ遅い！」という意見があるかもしれない。確かに遅すぎても駄目である。出遅れが致命傷にもなる。

サービスを提供するIT企業側の最近の動きをみるともっと早い、しかし、肝心なのは『ユーザー側』だ！ユーザーが「クラウドのサービスを使おう！」と言い出すのは、まだ先である。

この不況で資金力を圧迫された中小企業が売れるまでの期間を待つのは大変だ。

私もエンジニアであり、最先端の技術を誰よりも早く製品化することを目指して来た。しかし、新しい技術の製品は、出来上がっても売れるまでに時間がかかる。それは、ユーザー側から見るとまだ実績のない新しい技術に対し不安があるからだ。

資金集めに苦労して、開発し、製品化して、売れるまでに時間がかかる。なんとも耐えがたいものだ。

私は、『ＳＩＰ』技術を弊社の製品『CallNavi（コールナビ）』に組み込み、製品化した時に、売上が伸びるまでの時間、非常に長かった！　

確かに話題性はあった。新聞や雑誌にも良く取り上げられた。単なるエンジニアの自信だけで、足踏みすることなく前進した。

しかし、開発費用、調査・視察費用、パンフレットの作成費用、製品説明会の開催費用、全国の展示会への出店費用など　実は、莫大の資金が掛かった。その資金を回収するまでが非常に長く感じた。

私は、チャレンジ精神が旺盛かつ、エンジニア出身であるためこんなやり方をしてきた。だけど、経営者の立場からみると多くの異論があるだろうと思う。

だから、中小のＩＴ企業のクラウド化については、タイミングを考えることが重要だと思う。逆に資金力のあるＩＴ企業はどんどんサービスを提供して頂き、世の中に「クラウドコンピューティング」を広めてもらいたいと思う。

私の考えるクラウド化の順序

１．まずは、クラウドコンピューティングのモデル／種類を十分に理解する

２．クラウドコンピューティングの必要性を理解する

３．自社でできるクラウドコンピューティングを決定する

４．サービスの提供方法、ビジネスモデルを明確化する

５．販売方法を十分に検討し、決定すること

６．そして、開発し、サービス開始へ！
