大事件、トルネード（大竜巻）で動けない！

フロイダ州マイアミからカリフォルニア州サンフランシスコへ移動する予定でいた。大急ぎでマイアミ空港へレンタカーを飛ばし、やっとの思いでマイアミ空港に着いた。

急いでアメリカン航空のカウンターへ行くとどうも様子がおかしい。マイアミからサンフランシスコへは、テキサス州ダラス空港を経由し、８時間で着く予定だった。時差も東海岸と西海岸では３時間あり、到着時間的には３時間前となり、行動時間が多くなるはずだった。

「Oh! My God！!!」ダラス方面行きの飛行機が、全て欠航である。なんと、巨大なトルネード（竜巻）が発生したらしい、マイアミを含め、アメリカ南部は、巨大竜巻や巨大なハリケーン（台風）が多い。

アメリカン空港の対応は最悪

欠航のため、すぐ次の飛行機の手配と宿泊先を押さえないといけない、欠航を告げた係員は、１枚の紙をくれ、あちらのカウンターもしくは、アメリカン航空へ電話しろという。電話をすると、全然つながらず、つながるまでそのまま４６分待つというアナンスが流れた。冗談じゃない、そんなに電話で待てるか！

あっちこっちのアメリカン航空の係員に尋ねると、「私の担当ではないから解らない、あちらのカウンターへ行け。」という、そのカウンターへ行くとまた、「私の担当じゃないから、わからない、あっちのカウンターへ行け。」と言う。

空港内は、どのカウンターも長い列を作り、どこへ行っていいかわからない人が一杯である。ここマイアミ国際空港は、かなり大きな空港である。南は、南アメリカ（キューバ、ジャマイカ、ブラジルなど）への玄関口であり、東は、ヨーロッパへすぐ近い。いろんな国の言葉が飛び交っている。日本人は、ほとんど見ない。

なんだかんだ探し、列に並び約４時間後、やっととれた航空券は、３日後である。あまりにもの搭乗者の多さとトルネードの影響で最短のチケットが３日後だと言う。どうしても急ぐと言うと、２日後の夜なら、マイアミ空港→ワシントン空港→シカゴ空港→サンフランシスコ空港と飛べばサンフランシスコに行けるという。ふざけてる、アメリカ中を飛べというのか！（結果的に、もしこの方法で帰ってたら、北部の大雪につかまってまた動けなくなっていただろう。）

私は、年に数回アメリカンへは、いつも成田からアメリカン航空を使っている。当然、アメリカン航空のマイレージはゴールド会員である。大好きな航空会社だった。

それでも、こんな対応だ！「もう二度とアメリカン航空には乗らない！」そんなのお客様対応は、ＣＲＭの基本だ！

ホテルぐらい用意しろ！

結局、３日後の飛行機となったので、アメリカン航空にホテルを依頼した。するとまた一枚の紙に、ホテル名が書いてあり、ここへ行け、９９ドルで泊まれるという。「何ーっ！」　単なる割引してくれるだけである。アメリカン航空の係員は、「今回の欠航は、われわれの責任ではない。天候だ。だからこれ以上はできない」と言う。

確かに、機体のトラブルなら、ホテルも用意される。まぁ、日本でも沖縄で良く台風で飛行機が欠航すると、ホテル代は、ＡＮＡもＪＡＬも出してくれないから、わがまま言ってもしかたない。

しかし、３日後というと３泊しないといけない。９９ドル×３泊＋Ｔａｘ、きついなぁ。ホテルのフロントに行くと今度は、９９ドルは、最初の１泊だけという。追加の２泊は正規の値段である。結構良さそうなホテルであり、値段も高価だ。私は、出張のホテルはいつも5,000円～6,000円のホテルなのに、９９ドル＋Tax（約15,000円）でも高すぎるのに！

結局、郊外の安いモーテルを探すことにした。

今回の目的

今回は、マイアミへは、『CallNavi』の将来ために、『CallCenter demo & conference 』というコールセンター系のカンファレンス＆展示会を視察、サンフランシスコ（シリコンバレー）へは、『CallNavi（コールナビ）』のアライアンス提携をする会社を幾つか訪問予定であった。

もう、マイアミで疲れた。でも、そうは言えない。何があろうとやらねばならないことがある。日頃から常に、肉体的にも精神的にも鍛えておかないといけないと実感した。
