少し古い記事だが、シブヤ経済新聞2010年4月14日～「渋谷ヒカリエ」－東急文化会館跡地の高層複合ビル、名称決まるより。以下引用。
東京急行電鉄（渋谷区南平台町）と東急文化会館跡地の隣接街区の権利者で組織する「渋谷新文化街区プロジェクト推進協議会」は4月14日、現在開発を進めている「渋谷新文化街区プロジェクト」の施設名称を「渋谷ヒカリエ」に決定したと発表した。名称には「渋谷から未来を照らし、世の中を変える光になるという意志を込めた」という。ロゴマークでは、「Hikarie（光へ）」のネーミングから、「Hikarie」に光を照らしロゴが昇ってくるイメージを表現し、カラーは光輝く明るいゴールドを基調とした。
「光へ」と言われなければ、覚えづらそうな名前だね（笑）。

ジョルスから徒歩1分。便利になりそうだね。住吉的に気になるのが、「低層部（地下3階～7階）の商業施設には東急百貨店の出店が決まっているほか、6階・7階はカフェ＆ダイニング空間となる」という部分。
- ぜひ東急ストアを復活させてほしい（最近外苑前店も無くなったし・・・）
- 地下に出た温泉（←住吉希望的観測）で、憩いの施設を作ってほしい
