久しぶりの書き込みとなります。社内・社外から「社長のブログが読みたい」という要望があり、何か自分や会社を伝えるネタはないかと考えていました。そこで、昨年の１２月１２日に行なった講演の内容を、何回かに分けてここで紹介したいと思います。

私の考えること、日本システムデザインの目指す方向などを、少しでも理解してもらえると嬉しいです。

講演「その気になれば誰でも成功できる」

(1)成功するために絶対必要なことは？

私は会社を設立して20年目になりますが、たくさんの失敗をしてきました。その中で成功する方法がなんとなく見えてきた気がしております。一つの方向性をきちっと認識していれば、人生で成功することができると思うのです。ですから、みなさんに演題「その気になれば誰でも成功できる」ということを、ぜひ聞いてほしいと思います。

「なぜ成功しないのか」「なぜうまくいかないのか」、みなさんはそう考えたことがあるでしょう。なぜ成功しないのか、それはただ「成功しよう」と思っていないだけなのです。その気になれば、物事はうまくいきます。うまくいかないのは、その気になっていないだけなのです。

頭がいい人はたくさんいます。ただ、頭がいいだけで人生を成功していけるでしょうか。成功することと頭がいいことは別問題です。頭を鍛えること、知識を身につけることは必要なことですが、成功するためには何よりも「何になりたいか」「何をしたいか」という明確な目標を持つことが必要だと、私は思っています。知識というのは、知っている、分かっている、思っているだけではダメで、その知識を使って結果を出すことが大切なのです。

最近では、学校の中でのいじめ等の問題があります。私が中学生の頃もありました。しかし、このいじめ問題も視点を変えれば、人間関係を知るために勉強になっていたような気がします。ただ、時代も違うし、難しい問題もあるかとは思いますが、今日の私の話が役に立てばと願っております。

(2)失敗が自分を成長させる

現在まで、私はたくさんの失敗をしてきました。おそらくみなさんもたくさんの失敗を経験しているかと思いますが、この「失敗を成功につなげていく」という過程が重要なのです。失敗をして落ち込んでいたらダメで、失敗したらありがたいと思わなければなりません。

失敗をどうしたら克服できるのか、そこに時間を割くことが大切です。「失敗は成功のもと」という言葉もありますが、失敗を失敗のまま放っておいたら本当の失敗になってしまう。この失敗を一生懸命考えて、プラスにする方法を考える。これが非常に勉強になります。

ただし、このとき大切なのは、失敗したことを他人のせいにしないということです。「自分は悪くない、あいつが悪いのだ」という風に思っていると絶対に成長しないし、成功もしていきません。自分の何が悪かったのか、これを考えることが非常に大事なのだと思っています。

失敗していろいろな問題を抱えたとき、簡単に解決できなかったときこそが、自分を成長させるよい機会になります。自分が苦手としていることや、自分の弱点がはっきり解ってくるので、それを克服していけばよいのです。親に注意されると「知っているよ」「分かっているよ」と返事をすることが多いと思います。知っているだけ、思っているだけではダメで、実行して結果を出すまで物事を実行する必要があります。社会では、結果を出して、はじめて評価されるのです。

例えば、テストを受けたとき「この答えは分かっているのだけどなあ」と思っても、きちんと答えを書かないと評価されません。知っているだけ、分かっているだけではダメで、知っていること分かっていることを常に「使って」いかなければなりません。そして、使っている中で失敗することがたくさん出てきますが、この失敗が大切なのです。

(3)失敗してしまったときはこう考えよう！

みなさんは試験や試合などで失敗したとき、「なにくそ」と思い、次はがんばろうと思うだろうと思います。そのとき大切なことは何か。それは、

  • 一つ目は、目標を明確にすること
  • 二つ目は、その目標を訓練して習慣化するということ
  • 三つ目は、それに対する熱意と信念

です。

一番のポイントは、一つ目の「目標を明確にすること」です。まず、自分が何になりたいのか、何をしたいのか明確に意識することです。会社を作りたいと思えば会社が作れるし、社長になりたいと思えば社長になれます。みなさんが本気でそう思えば、全員そうなれるのです。そのためには明確な目標を持ち、常日頃からその目標を意識することが必要です。

次回は、私が実際に会社を作ってから感じた、成功/失敗の考え方について紹介したいと思います。
