渋谷ヒカリエの開業を機に再開発が本格化する渋谷駅には、成り立ちや動線など、他の駅にない特異な要素が多々ある。こうした点を丹念に研究している昭和女子大学の田村圭介准教授の寄稿を掲載する。今回は渋谷の歴史を振り返る（ケンプラッツ編集部）。
最近、「渋谷の過去と未来」ネタが多いのは気のせいだろうか？ この前テレビでも「渋谷タイムトリップ」という企画があり、書店に行くと「SHIBUYA 202X – 知られざる渋谷の過去・未来」という本が売られている。

この記事も「戦前に出来た渋谷駅東館は、戦時中は空襲を逃れるために、ホワイトキューブをまだら模様にしてカモフラージュした」など、興味深い内容となっている。
今後15年かけて、超高層ビルが複数作られていく予定の渋谷。これからも目が離せないね！
